I've seen few if any images here of the plastic covers damaged by busted timing belts and we regularly read of people discovering one only after following the suggestion to open the oil fill cap and observe lack of cam rotation as the engine is cranked. The engine is what makes that essential power that drives the wheels. And once snapped, the timing belt Doesn't get pulled through the crank cog again, the end is ejected with whatever force the cog has pushing a flexible part, similar to pushing an empty hose or rope across a lawn?
